5x ViewSonic 86-inch interactive screens and 5x wall mounts to transform the teaching and learning of Mathematics through high-quality interactive technology that supports visualisation, collaboration and deeper mathematical understanding. Replacing SmartBoards that have been in use since 2012, the new 4K displays will provide clear, bright and responsive presentation of mathematical content, ensuring that complex equations, graphs, diagrams and data sets are visible to all pupils throughout the classroom.
The screens will enable teachers and students to make full use of modern mathematical software such as GeoGebra and Desmos, allowing concepts to be explored dynamically rather than simply viewed. Pupils will be able to manipulate graphs, investigate transformations, test conjectures and explore mathematical relationships in real time. This is particularly valuable in areas such as algebra, trigonometry, geometry, statistics and calculus, where visual representation can significantly improve understanding of abstract concepts.
The technology will support learners across the full attainment range. Lower-attaining pupils will benefit from clearer visual modelling and interactive demonstrations that break complex ideas into manageable steps. Higher-attaining students will be able to explore advanced mathematical concepts in greater depth, supporting preparation for GCSE, A Level and STEM-related pathways. The screens will also improve accessibility for pupils with visual impairments, ADHD and processing difficulties through enhanced clarity, contrast and visibility.
The multi-touch functionality will encourage collaborative learning by allowing several pupils to work on problems simultaneously, discuss strategies and share solutions. This will strengthen mathematical reasoning, communication and problem-solving skills while increasing engagement and participation. Teachers will also be able to provide more immediate feedback through interactive modelling and live annotation.
Beyond timetabled lessons, the screens will support enrichment activities including problem-solving clubs, Senior Maths Society and other student-led academic groups, extending opportunities for mathematical exploration and independent learning. As durable capital resources with an expected lifespan of more than a decade, the screens will benefit thousands of pupils in the years ahead. By creating more interactive, accessible and visually engaging mathematics classrooms, the project will help develop confidence, curiosity and a deeper understanding of mathematics across the school.
