Secondary Awards Available and Deadlines

Apply online using the Secondary Minor or Major Award Application Form links below (left)

PLEASE NOTE: At present, we can only consider applications from state-funded secondary schools and educational support centres in Hertfordshire.

Each academic year we intend to award the following grants:

Secondary Minor Awards

  • Secondary schools may receive 3 Minor Awards (max. £1,000 each) per academic year.  They can only bid for 1 award in each focus area.
  • Educational support centres may receive 1 Minor Award (max. £1,000) per academic year.  This award may be in any of the secondary focus areas.
  • If a Minor Award application is unsuccessful, schools/ESCs are then free to apply for something else in the same focus area if they wish.
  • Our focus areas for secondary schools and Educational Support Centres are:  PE, STEM and Learning to Learn.
  • Our award fund will be spread out over each academic year and awarded across all three focus areas.
    • Minor Awards can be applied for at any time until each month's budget runs out.  The budget is then refreshed at the beginning of the following month and applications reopen.
    • A running total of the remaining budget for the current month is shown above the application form.
  • Please see our How to Apply for a Grant page for important information on applications for contributions towards amounts greater than £1,000 (part-bids) and bids to avoid.

A brilliant scheme that has enabled us to purchase those 'dream' pieces of equipment that we wish we could buy but cannot justify within our own ever diminishing budgets!

 Other Help for Schools

As we grow, we will also aim to help schools in other ways which may include e.g.:

  • building an easy-to-use database of other organisations that support our objectives and focus areas.*
  • recruiting organisations and businesses to supply expert visitors to schools and facilitate pupil and teacher visits/placements.  Schools will then have access to these contacts.
  • Negotiating discounts from suppliers of educational services that fit our focus areas.

*We don’t specifically endorse any organisation on our links pages but offer the information for teachers to evaluate the resources/suppliers for themselves.
